1. CT Green Bank Smart-E Loan

The Connecticut Green Bank's Smart-E loan program offers below-market interest rate financing for clean energy projects including solar, battery storage, EV chargers, heat pump systems, and heat pump water heaters. Rates typically range from 4.5% to 7% depending on the lender and project scope, compared to 8-15% for a standard home improvement loan.

Smart-E loans are unsecured (no home equity required), have terms from 5 to 25 years, and can cover projects from $3,000 to $175,000. West Electric is a CT Green Bank approved contractor and handles the Smart-E loan application on your behalf.

2. Net Metering: The Ongoing Revenue Stream

Net metering is not a one-time incentive - it is an ongoing billing mechanism that pays you for every kilowatt-hour your solar system exports to the grid. In Connecticut, both Eversource and United Illuminating credit solar exports at approximately the full retail rate (roughly $0.24-$0.26/kWh in 2026).
