No. Powerwall 3 is solar-inverter-equipped but it can also be installed as AC-coupled with any existing solar inverter (Enphase, SolarEdge, Sol-Ark, etc.), as a standalone backup battery without solar at all, or as the inverter for a new solar array. Can a Tesla Powerwall enroll in the Connecticut ESS program?
Yes. Powerwall is approved equipment under Connecticut's Energy Storage Solutions program through Eversource and United Illuminating. ESS pays you an upfront incentive at install plus ongoing performance payments for letting the utility briefly dispatch your battery during peak grid events. What's the Powerwall warranty?
Tesla's Powerwall 3 warranty is 10 years on the battery (with unlimited cycles) and a separate 10-year warranty on the integrated inverter. Replacement coverage applies if the battery drops below 70% of its rated energy capacity within the warranty term. Real-world Powerwall installs typically last 10-15+ years.
